Cefotax 1 g This is the trade name of the antibiotic cefotaxime (lat. Cefotaxime), which belongs to the third generation cephalosporins. It is used to treat various bacterial infections. Composition: Active substance: cefotaxime sodium (Cefotaxime sodium) - 1 gram in each vial. Dosage form: powder for solution for intravenous or intramuscular administration. Mechanism of action: bactericidal. Disrupts the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall. Spectrum of action: wide. Effective against: gram-positive bacteria, gram-negative bacteria, some anaerobes. Resistant to β-lactamases (enzymes that destroy penicillins and some cephalosporins). Method of administration and dosage: The dosage depends on the severity of the infection, age, weight and medical history of the patient. The dosage for children depends on the weight of the child.
