Hepaticum Suspension 10 mg/ml 120 ml Composition: Each 5 ml suspension contains: Active ingredients: Milk thistle extract powder 91 mg Equivalent to Silymarin 50 mg. Description: A syrup containing micronized silymarin is used as a protective agent for the liver that protects against damage to liver cells and adjunct therapy for chronic liver disease and cirrhosis. Indications: Hepaticum suspension used for symptomatic relief of digestive disorders, sensation of fullness and indigestion, and to support the liver functions after serious conditions have been excluded by a doctor. Properties: Hepatoprotective agent of plant origin. Contains dry extract of milk thistle fruit (Silybum marianum (L.) Gaertn.) – the equivalent of silymarin, which is the sum of flavolignans: silibinin (silybin), isosilibinin, silydianin and silicristin. It has a hepatoprotective and antitoxic effect. The therapeutic effect is due to the effect on the metabolism of hepatocytes. It activates the synthesis of proteins and enzymes in hepatocytes, has a stabilizing effect on the membrane of hepatocytes, inhibits the penetration of toxins into liver cells, inhibits dystrophic and potentiates liver regenerative processes. Method of administration and Dosage: For oral use only. Adults and the elderly: Take 5 ml of suspension twice daily. Duration of use: If symptoms worsen or persist for more than two weeks, a doctor or qualified healthcare practitioner should be consulted. This medicine is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years of age. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to the active substance and to other plants of the Asteraceae (Compositae) family. Special warnings and precautions for use: The use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age has not been established due to lack of adequate data. In case of jaundice (light to dark yellow discoloration, yellow discoloration of the whites of the eyes), a doctor should be consulted.
