Gynoconazol – an antifungal medication for intravaginal use.
Used to treat vaginal fungal infections caused by Candida spp., especially vulvovaginal candidiasis (thrush).
Composition (per 1 g of cream):
• Terconazole – 0.4% (4 mg).
Pharmacological properties:
Terconazole is a synthetic antifungal agent from the triazole group. It inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol, a key component of the fungal cell membrane, leading to membrane disruption and cell death.
The drug has fungicidal and fungistatic activity against yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida, including Candida albicans, as well as some other pathogens causing vaginal infections.
Indications for use:
• Acute or recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis
• Laboratory-confirmed fungal vaginitis
• Symptoms of thrush: itching, burning, cottage cheese-like discharge, redness.
Method of administration and dosage:
• Vaginally, at bedtime
• Standard regimen: 1 application of cream (5 g) once daily for 7 days
• The course may be adjusted by a doctor depending on the severity of the infection.
Hygienic procedures are recommended before applying the cream. Sexual intercourse and the use of tampons should be avoided during treatment.
