igamox Eye drops 5 ml
Composition (per 1 ml of solution):
• Moxifloxacin (as hydrochloride) – 5 mg
(equivalent to 5.45 mg of moxifloxacin hydrochloride).
Vigamox is an antibacterial eye drop from the fluoroquinolone group.
It is used to treat bacterial infections of the anterior segment of the eye, such as conjunctivitis. Provides rapid and effective elimination of the pathogens causing eye infections.
Pharmacological properties:
Moxifloxacin is a 4th generation antibiotic from the fluoroquinolone group. It inhibits the enzymes DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are essential for bacterial DNA synthesis and repair.
Active against a wide range of microorganisms, including:
• Staphylococcus aureus
• Streptococcus pneumoniae
• Haemophilus influenzae
• Moraxella catarrhalis
• Chlamydia trachomatis.
Indications for use:
• Bacterial conjunctivitis
• Infections of the anterior segment of the eye caused by susceptible microorganisms.
Method of administration and dosage:
For blepharitis, dacryocystitis, stye, conjunctivitis, tarsadenitis, keratitis (including corneal ulcer): usually one drop is instilled into the affected eye 3 times a day. The frequency of instillation may be increased or decreased depending on symptoms.
For preoperative and postoperative prophylaxis: usually one drop is instilled into the affected eye 5 times a day for 2 days before surgery and 3 times a day for up to 14 days after surgery.
Patients should be advised to allow at least a 5-minute interval between administrations if using Vigamox solution together with other ophthalmic drops.
