Each p/o tablet contains:
Secnidazole – 500 mg.
Properties:
antiparasitic, antiprotozoal, tissue amebicide – contact amebicide; synthetic derivative of the nitroimidazole series. Active against Entamoeba histolytica, Giardia lamblia and Trichomonas vaginalis.
Indications:
urethritis and vaginitis caused by Trichomonas vaginalis. Intestinal amoebiosis, hepatic amoebiosis, giardiasis.
Mode of application:
Trichomonas vaginalis urethritis and vaginitis: Adults: 2 g orally in a single dose before meals. Intestinal amebiosis: symptomatic acute form: Adults: 2 g in a single dose before meals. Children: 30 mg/kg/day as a single dose for 1 day. Asymptomatic form (Minuta and Cystica forms): same daily dose for 3 days. Hepatic amoebiosis: adults: 1.5 g daily in one or more doses before meals for 5 days. Children: 30 mg/kg/day in one or more doses before meals for 5 days. In the purulent phase of hepatic amoebiosis, treatment with jsecnidazole is combined with removal of pus or puncture of abscesses. Giardiasis: Children: 30 mg/kg/day as a single dose for 1 day.
Contraindications:
hypersensitivity to imidazole derivatives. Pregnant and lactating women.
Precautionary measures:
during treatment with secnidazole, the use of alcoholic beverages should be avoided. Do not administer to patients with a history of blood.
Side effects:
digestive disorders, abdominal pain, taste change (metallic), glossitis, stomatitis, urticaria. Moderate leukopenia, reversible upon discontinuation of treatment. Dizziness, lack of coordination. Allergic reactions: fever, erythema, urticaria and angioedema.
Storage method:
Store at a temperature not exceeding 30C in a dry place out of the reach of children.
