Librax 5mg/2.5mg 30 tabs Composition and action of components: • Chlordiazepoxide – a benzodiazepine, has a sedative, anxiolytic and muscle relaxant effect. • Clidinium bromide – an anticholinergic, reduces gastric secretion and relaxes the smooth muscles of the GI tract, relieving spasms. Librax is a combination drug used for gastrointestinal disorders, especially for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), gastritis and peptic ulcer disease. It combines the anxiolytic effect of chlordiazepoxide with the antispasmodic effect of clidinium. Pharmacological properties: • Provides anxiety relief often accompanying stomach disorders. • Reduces gastric juice secretion and intestinal motor activity. • Relieves spasms, pain and bloating. Indications for use: • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). • Functional dyspepsia. • Peptic ulcer disease of the stomach and duodenum. • Gastritis and gastroenteritis with pronounced spasmodic pain. • Adjunctive treatment for psychosomatic GI disorders. Dosage and administration: • Usually 1 tablet 3–4 times a day before meals and at bedtime. • Tablets should be swallowed whole with water. • The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor, usually short-term (1–4 weeks).
