Properties:
Mebeverin is a myotropic antispasmodic that has a direct effect on the smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract without affecting normal intestinal motility. The exact mechanism of action is unknown, but multiple mechanisms such as decreased ion channel permeability, blockade of norepinephrine reuptake, local anesthetic effects, and altered water absorption may cause mebeverine to act locally on the gastrointestinal tract. Through these mechanisms, mebeverine exhibits an antispasmodic effect, normalizing intestinal motility and not causing permanent relaxation of smooth muscle cells of the gastrointestinal tract (“hypotension”).
Sulpiride has a moderate antipsychotic activity in combination with a stimulating and thymoanaleptic (antidepressive) action. The neuroleptic effect is associated with antidopaminergic action. In the central nervous system, sulpiride mainly blocks the dopaminergic receptors of the limbic system, and has little effect on the neostriatal system, it has an antipsychotic effect and causes a small number of side effects. The peripheral action of sulpiride is based on the inhibition of presynaptic receptors. An increase in the amount of dopamine in the central nervous system is associated with an improvement in mood, with a decrease in the development of symptoms of depression.
