Albendazole

Uses:
An antiparasitic drug used to treat a wide range of worm infections, including:
Roundworms (Ascaris)
Pinworms (Enterobius)
Tapeworms (Taenia)
Trichinella (Strongyloides)
Mixed multi-worm infections
Cysticercosis associated with central nervous system infections
Mechanism of action:
Albendazole inhibits glucose uptake into the cells of parasites, resulting in the loss of energy needed for their survival, leading to their death and subsequent expulsion from the body via the feces.
Usual Dosage:
For adults and children over 2 years of age: One tablet (400 mg) taken as a single dose, or as directed by a physician.
The dose may be repeated after two weeks in cases of persistent infection.
The tablets should be taken with a little water, preferably with food to improve absorption.
Precautions:
Do not use during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester.
Caution should be exercised in cases of liver disease.
Do not use if you have a known allergy to albendazole or its derivatives.
It is recommended to monitor liver function during prolonged use.
Possible Side Effects:
Gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea or abdominal pain.
Headache.
Dizziness.
Mild skin rash.
Changes in liver function tests.
Temporary hair loss in rare cases.
