Trade Name: Zovirax 400 mg Pharmaceutical Form: Coated Tablets - Pack of 10 Composition and Ingredients: Each tablet contains: Acyclovir 400 mg Excipients: Microcrystalline cellulose, starch, povidone, magnesium stearate Active Ingredient: Acyclovir Properties: An antiviral drug belonging to the class of viral polymerase inhibitors. It inhibits the replication of herpes virus DNA within infected cells, helping to reduce the spread of infection, accelerate recovery, and relieve symptoms. Indications: Treatment of herpes simplex virus type 1 and 2 infections, including genital herpes Treatment of shingles (herpes zoster) Treatment of chickenpox (varicella) Prevention of recurrent herpes virus infections in immunocompromised or immunocompromised patients Treatment of immunocompromised patients with active viral infections Dosage and Administration: Adults: The common dose for treating herpes is 400 mg three times daily, or 200 mg five times daily for 5 to 10 days as directed by the physician. For prevention: 400 mg twice daily. The tablets are taken orally with a sufficient amount of water. The medication can be taken with or without food. Adhere to the dosage and duration prescribed by the physician and do not discontinue treatment before the recommended period is over. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to acyclovir or any of the ingredients in the medication. Children under 2 years of age (unless specifically directed by a physician). Precautions: The dosage should be adjusted.
