Ibiamox belongs to a group of medicines called beta-lactam antibiotics. It works by killing the bacteria which causes the infection. Amoxicillin is an antibiotic belonging to a group of drugs called penicillin, which treats many bacterial infections by stopping the growth of disease-causing bacteria by inhibiting the biological structure of the cell wall, leading to the death of bacteria. Amoxicillin is not used to treat viral infections such as influenza.
