Description:
Mucosta is an anti-gastritis and anti-gastric ulcer drug used to treat gastric ulcers, gastritis, and gastric mucosal lesions (erosions, bleeding, redness, edema). It is also used for NSAID-induced gastropathy and enteropathy.
Mechanism of Action: Rebamipide works through multiple protective mechanisms:
Enhances Mucosal Defense: Increases prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) production, thickens the gastric mucus layer, and improves mucosal blood flow.
Anti-inflammatory Effects: Suppresses interleukin-8 production and inflammatory cell infiltration.
Antioxidant Properties: Scavenges free radicals and reduces oxidative stress.
Promotes Healing: Accelerates cell proliferation and repair of damaged gastric mucosa.
