Olapex 5 mg 30 tablets Composition Each tablet contains: • Olanzapine - 5 mg Pharmacological properties Olanzapine is an atypical antipsychotic belonging to the group of thienanthropenes. 1. Antipsychotic action: • Blocks dopamine (D₂) and serotonin (5-HT₂A) receptors • Eliminates symptoms of psychosis (delusions, hallucinations, thought disorders) 2. Stimulates mood stabilization: • Alleviates symptoms of mania in bipolar disorders • Prevention of relapses of depression and mania 3. Additional effects: • Moderate anxiolytic and sedative effects • Lower risk of extrapyramidal disorders compared to typical antipsychotics Indications for use • Schizophrenia (acute and chronic forms) • Manic episodes in bipolar affective disorder • Maintenance therapy of BAD (bipolar affective disorder) • Psychoses of various origins (as prescribed by a doctor) Method of administration and dosage • Initial dose: 5–10 mg once a day, regardless of food intake • Maintenance dose: usually 5–20 mg per day • The tablet should be swallowed whole with water • The dosage and duration of therapy is determined by the doctor individually Note: with long-term use, monitoring of body weight, glucose and lipid levels in the blood is required due to possible metabolic side effects.
