Tradename: Armodacure Compound: Each tablet contains: Armodafinil 150 mg Auxiliary components: Lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, starch, povidone, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, Aerosil. Properties: Armodafinil is the (R)-enantiomer of modafinil, which is a 1:1 mixture of the (R)- and (S)-enantiomers. Armodafinil is an indirect dopamine receptor agonist. Armodafinil binds to the dopamine transporter and inhibits dopamine reuptake. The mechanism by which armodafinil maintains wakefulness is unknown. The pharmacological properties of armodafinil are similar to those of modafinil. In addition to the effect of wakefulness and increased locomotor activity in animals, armodafinil can have a psychoactive effect and cause a state of euphoria, changes in mood, feelings, thinking and emotions, characteristic of other CNS stimulants in humans. Indications: – maintenance of the state of wakefulness in patients with OSAHS as an adjunct to therapy by the method of creating a constant positive airway pressure (CPAP-therapy); – treatment of excessive drowsiness associated with HNSBP, when the use of non-pharmacological interventions is unsuccessful or impractical; – maintaining a state of wakefulness in patients with excessive daytime sleepiness associated with narcolepsy. Dosage and administration: The dose and course of treatment is prescribed strictly by the doctor. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to modafinil, armodafinil or any other component of the drug. Precautionary measures: Drivers: Patients should be warned about the need to refrain from driving or working with mechanisms until they are sure that treatment with the drug will not adversely affect their ability to do so. Side effects: In pre-registration controlled clinical trials, the most common adverse reactions (≥5%) in patients treated with Armodacure, which were observed more often than in patients treated with placebo, were headache, nausea, dizziness and insomnia.
