Salbovent 2 mg 30 tablets

Available at Pharmaegy Pharmacy. Use as directed by your doctor.

Salbovent 2 mg 30 tablets Composition: Active Ingredient: Salbutamol sulphate — 2.40 mg (equivalent to 2 mg salbutamol). Description: Salbovent is a bronchodilator medication. Its active ingredient, salbutamol, works by selectively acting on beta-2-adrenergic receptors in the bronchial muscles, causing them to relax and widen the airways. This helps to quickly relieve bronchospasm (narrowing of the airways). Make breathing easier during an asthma attack or other conditions involving constricted airways. Provide prolonged relief of breathing difficulties (for 4-6 hours) when taken orally. Indications for Use: For the relief of bronchospasm in bronchial asthma of all types. Chronic bronchitis. Emphysema. Dosage and Administration: Adults: The usual dose is 4 mg (two 2 mg tablets) three or four times daily. If necessary, the dose can be increased to 8 mg per dose. Some patients may achieve adequate relief with 2 mg three or four times a day. Elderly patients and those sensitive to beta-agonists: Start with 2 mg three or four times a day. Children: 2-6 years: 1-2 mg three or four times daily. 6-12 years: 2 mg three or four times daily. Over 12 years: 2-4 mg three or four times daily. Not recommended for children under 2 years of age. Method of Administration: Tablets are to be taken orally, with water, with or without food. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to salbutamol or any other ingredient of the product. Non-IV formulations must not be used to arrest uncomplicated premature labour or threatened abortion. Precautions: - Not the sole or main treatment for severe asthma. Requires comprehensive management under medical supervision. - If the treatment becomes less effective or more frequent dosing is needed, do not increase the dose yourself; seek immediate medical advice. Use with caution in patients with: - Underlying severe heart disease (e.g., ischemic heart disease, arrhythmia, severe heart failure). Discontinue use and consult a doctor if chest pain occurs. Thyrotoxicosis. - Diabetes mellitus (may increase blood glucose levels). - May cause a decrease in serum potassium levels (hypokalaemia), especially in acute severe asthma. The risk is increased when administered concomitantly with diuretics, xanthine derivatives, or corticosteroids. Side Effects: Common (≥1/100 to <1/10): Tremor Headache. Uncommon (≥1/1,000 to <1/100): Tachycardia, palpitations Dizziness Nausea Muscle cramps. Rare (≥1/10,000 to <1/1,000): Hypokalaemia (with high doses) Hyperglycaemia Cardiac arrhythmias (e.g., atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia). Very rare (<1/10,000): Hypersensitivity reactions (including angioedema, urticaria, bronchospasm) Myocardial ischaemia. Pregnancy and Lactation: Pregnancy: Should only be considered if the expected benefit to the mother is greater than any possible risk to the foetus. Breast-feeding: Salbutamol is probably secreted in breast milk. Its use in nursing mothers requires careful consideration and should only be used if the benefit outweighs the potential risk to the infant. Storage Conditions: Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C in a dry place. Protect from light. Package: A carton box containing blisters (30 tablets).
