Apexidone 0.5 mg, 30 tablets Composition (per 1 tablet): • Risperidone - 0.5 mg Pharmacological properties: • Class: atypical antipsychotic • Mechanism of action: blocks dopamine (D₂) and serotonin (5-HT₂) receptors, regulating the neurotransmitter balance in the brain. • Has an antipsychotic, antimanic and mood-stabilizing effect. • Pharmacokinetics: well absorbed when taken orally, metabolized in the liver to form an active metabolite (9-hydroxyrisperidone). Indications for use: • Schizophrenia in adults and adolescents • Acute manic episodes in bipolar disorder • Behavioral disorders in children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders (irritability, aggression, self-harming behavior) Method of administration and dosage: The dosage of Apexidon will vary depending on the individual patient and their condition. The usual starting dose for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder is 2 mg to 4 mg per day. The dosage can be gradually increased until the desired effect is achieved. The maximum recommended dose for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder is 16 mg per day.
