Properties: Ocuguard LX is formulated with the natural extract of marigold flowers and antioxidants to protect eye vision, restore its natural moisturization and optimal color detection. The marigold was traditionally used for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as its ability to support visual health. This major property is the result of its exceptionally high content of lutein. Lutein is present in photoreceptor cells, in the rod outer segments responsible for detecting light radiation. Marigold also contains numerous bioactive compounds such as thiophenes, flavonoids, triterpenoids and zeaxanthin. Zeaxanthin is thought to function as a light filter, protecting the eye tissues from sunlight damage. Vitamin C, vitamin E and zinc reduce the risk of certain serious eye diseases like age-related macular degeneration and cataracts. Their powerful antioxidant properties may protect your eyes against damaging free radicals. Copper is used by many enzymes that help ensure the nervous system works properly. Copper deficiency may cause optic neuropathy or neurodegeneration that leads to nerve fiber layer loss, and as a result the vision loss and color vision loss.
