The Diskus is a breath-activated device. It is highly effective for patients who prefer not to use a spacer or who find coordinating the "press and breathe" of a spray inhaler difficult. Primary Indications: Long-term maintenance of Asthma and COPD. It works by combining an anti-inflammatory (Fluticasone) with a long-acting bronchodilator (Salmeterol) to keep airways open for 12 hours. Usage: Usually one inhalation twice daily (morning and evening). The device has a dose counter to show exactly how many doses are left. Technique: Hold the device horizontally, slide the lever until it clicks, exhale away from the device, and then inhale deeply and steadily through the mouthpiece. Important: Rinse your mouth after every use to prevent oral thrush. Note: This is an original international brand by GSK (GlaxoSmithKline).
