Pulmicort Respules are designed for "wet" inhalation via a jet nebulizer. It is the gold standard for long-term asthma control in infants (from 6 months) and young children, but it is also used for severe croup. Primary Indications: Maintenance treatment for Asthma and prevention of acute attacks. It is also a key treatment for Croup (acute laryngotracheobronchitis) in children to reduce the "barking" cough and airway obstruction. Usage: Use only with a jet nebulizer (not ultrasonic). Empty the vial into the nebulizer cup as directed by your doctor. The patient should breathe the mist calmly and deeply through a face mask or mouthpiece until the mist stops (usually 5–10 minutes). Important: Rinse the mouth after use. If a face mask is used, wash the child's face to prevent skin irritation or a "steroid rash." Note: This is an original international brand by AstraZeneca.
