Ventolin syrup is a "Reliever" that helps relax the muscles of the airways to make breathing easier. Since it is taken by mouth, it travels through the bloodstream, which means it may take slightly longer to work than an inhaler but is easier to administer to toddlers. Primary Indications: Relief of bronchospasm in Asthma, Chronic Bronchitis, and other respiratory conditions. It is useful for children who cannot coordinate the "press and breathe" of an inhaler. General Dosage (Follow your doctor's specific advice): Children (2–6 years): 2.5 ml to 5 ml, 3 to 4 times daily. Children (6–12 years): 5 ml, 3 to 4 times daily. Adults: 5 ml to 10 ml, 3 to 4 times daily. Side Effects: Because it is an oral liquid, it is more likely to cause "shaky hands" (tremors), a fast heartbeat, or nervousness compared to an inhaler.
