Hydrocort 0.1% – 20g Cream

Available at Pharmaegy Pharmacy. Use as directed by your doctor.

Intro: Hydrocort is a topical corticosteroid containing Hydrocortisone Butyrate. It is a mild-to-moderate strength steroid designed to reduce localized skin reactions. Unlike the high-strength retinoids, Hydrocort is used to "calm" the skin rather than renew it, making it a staple for allergy and irritation relief. Indications: Dermatitis & Eczema: Relieves redness, swelling, and scaling associated with atopic or contact dermatitis. Allergic Reactions: Treats skin rashes caused by soaps, detergents, jewelry, or cosmetics. Insect Bites: Quickly soothes itching and inflammation from stings. Sunburn: Calms painful, inflamed skin after excessive sun exposure. How to Use: Application: Apply a thin film sparingly to the affected area. Frequency: Use 2 to 3 times daily as needed. Duration: Typically limited to 7–10 days of continuous use to avoid skin thinning. Crucial Rules: Infections: Do not use on infected skin (fungal, viral like cold sores, or bacterial) as steroids can mask and worsen infections. Face & Folds: Use with extreme caution on the face or skin folds (axilla/groin) as these areas absorb the drug more readily. Airtight Dressings: Do not cover the treated area with bandages or plastic unless told by a doctor; this significantly increases absorption and side effects. Generic International Brands: Cortizone-10, Hc45, Anusol-HC, Westcort, Locoid (specific to Butyrate).
