Cidamex 250mg – Tablets

Available at Pharmaegy Pharmacy. Use as directed by your doctor.

Intro: Cidamex is an oral medication containing Acetazolamide, a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor. It works by reducing the production of certain fluids in the body, primarily in the eyes and central nervous system, and acts as a mild diuretic to help the kidneys remove excess salt and water. Indications: Glaucoma: Lowers high pressure inside the eye (intraocular pressure). Altitude Sickness: Prevents and treats "mountain sickness" (headache, nausea, dizziness) by improving breathing and oxygen levels. Epilepsy: Used as an add-on treatment for certain types of seizures. Edema (Fluid Retention): Helps reduce swelling caused by heart failure or certain medications. Intracranial Hypertension: Sometimes used to reduce high pressure around the brain. How to Use: General: Swallow tablets whole with water, preferably with food to avoid stomach upset. Glaucoma: Usually 1 to 4 tablets (250mg–1000mg) daily in divided doses. Altitude Sickness: Typically 1 to 2 tablets daily, starting 24–48 hours before climbing. Edema: Often taken once daily in the morning, sometimes on alternate days to maintain effectiveness. Crucial Rules: Sulfa Allergy: Do not use if you are allergic to sulfonamides (sulfa drugs). Potassium Loss: This medicine can cause low potassium levels (hypokalemia). Your doctor may suggest eating potassium-rich foods like bananas or taking a supplement. Side Effects: Common "pins and needles" tingling in hands/feet or a metallic taste in the mouth. Hydration: Drink plenty of water to prevent kidney stones. Pregnancy: Generally avoided, especially in the first trimester. Generic International Brands: Diamox, Diacarb, Glaupax, Apo-Acetazolamide.
