Aironyl 1.5mg/5ml – 120ml Syrup
Available at Pharmaegy Pharmacy. Use as directed by your doctor.
Intro: Aironyl is a fast-acting bronchodilator manufactured by SEDICO. It contains Terbutaline Sulphate, a medicine that belongs to the group of "Beta-2 agonists." It works by directly relaxing the smooth muscles of the airways (bronchi), making it significantly easier to breathe during an asthma attack or a bout of severe coughing.
Indications:
Asthma Relief: Treats and prevents wheezing and shortness of breath associated with asthma.
Bronchitis & Emphysema: Relieves airway obstruction in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Respiratory Allergies: Opens the airways during severe allergic reactions that affect breathing.
Coughing with Wheezing: Specifically used when a cough is accompanied by a "tight" chest or whistling sound.
How to Use:
Dosage (Weight-based): The dose for children is usually 0.05 mg/kg to 0.075 mg/kg of body weight, three times daily.
Example (20kg child): Approximately 5ml, 3 times daily.
Adults: Typically 10ml to 15ml, 2–3 times daily.
Timing: Can be taken with or without food, but taking it on an empty stomach (1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal) may speed up absorption.
Crucial Rules:
Heart Warning: Use with extreme caution if the patient has a history of heart disease, irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia), or high blood pressure, as it can increase the heart rate.
Side Effects: Common reactions include hand tremors, nervousness, headache, or a racing heart. These usually decrease as the body adjusts to the medicine.
Diabetes: May cause a slight rise in blood sugar; diabetic patients should monitor their levels closely.
Potassium Levels: Long-term or high-dose use can lower potassium levels in the blood.
Generic International Brands: Bricanyl (Global), Brethine, Terbutaline Syrup.
