Burnasores 0.25% – 15g Topical Ointment
Available at Pharmaegy Pharmacy. Use as directed by your doctor.
Intro: Burnasores is a topical healing ointment manufactured by Global Napi Pharmaceuticals (GNP). It contains Beta-sitosterol (0.25%), a plant-derived steroid that mimics the body's natural healing process. It is the primary local alternative to the famous Mebo ointment. It works by creating a moist environment for the wound, which speeds up tissue regeneration and reduces pain by insulating exposed nerve endings.
Indications:
Burns: Effective for first-degree (sunburns), second-degree, and third-degree burns.
Wound Healing: Used for surgical wounds, obstetric wounds (episiotomy), and chronic wounds like bedsores or diabetic foot ulcers.
Skin Irritations: Soothes diaper rash, nipple fissures (during breastfeeding), and irritation after laser hair removal or chemical peels.
Post-Procedure: Helps the skin recover after circumcision or minor dermatological surgeries.
How to Use:
Dosage: Apply a thin layer to the affected area 3 to 4 times daily.
Application: It is generally recommended to keep the burn/wound exposed (without a bandage). However, if a dressing is necessary, you can apply a thicker layer and change the bandage twice daily.
Tip: Do not rub it in aggressively; just let the layer sit on the skin to act as a protective barrier.
Crucial Rules:
Scent: Like Mebo, it has a distinct herbal/sesame oil scent because it contains sesame oil and beeswax.
Allergy Check: Do not use if you are allergic to sesame oil or beeswax.
Storage: Store at room temperature (below 25°C). If the ointment melts in the summer, you can place it in the fridge briefly to firm it up.
Infection: If the wound shows signs of pus, extreme swelling, or foul odor, consult a doctor as you may need an antibiotic cream alongside it.
Generic International Brands: MEBO (Moist Exposed Burn Ointment), Riaheal, Burn Heal.
