MEBO (Moist Exposed Burn Ointment) – 15g
Available at Pharmaegy Pharmacy. Use as directed by your doctor.
Intro: MEBO is the world-renowned "Gold Standard" for burn and wound care, produced by Julphar. It is a 100% natural ointment containing Beta-sitosterol (0.25%) in a base of sesame oil and beeswax. Its name stands for its unique mechanism: it provides a "physiological moist environment" that allows skin cells to regenerate naturally while absorbing residual heat from the burn.
Indications:
Burn Treatment: First-degree (sunburns), second-degree, and third-degree burns.
Wound Repair: Cuts, abrasions, surgical wounds, and obstetric wounds (like C-section or episiotomy scars).
Chronic Ulcers: Highly effective for diabetic foot ulcers and bedsores.
Skin Procedures: Soothes skin after laser therapy, chemical peels, and circumcision.
Breastfeeding: Heals cracked or sore nipples (safe for infants, but wipe clean before feeding for comfort).
How to Use:
Dosage: Apply a thin layer (about 1mm thick) to the area 3 to 4 times daily.
Application: It is best to keep the wound exposed. If you must use a dressing, apply a thicker layer (about 2-3mm) and change it twice daily.
Tip: Avoid using harsh chemical disinfectants (like alcohol or iodine) directly before applying MEBO, as they can hinder the "moist healing" process. Rinse with saline (saltwater) instead.
Crucial Rules:
The "Sesame" Smell: MEBO has a very strong, distinct smell of sesame oil. This is normal and a sign of the natural ingredients.
Allergy Warning: Do not use if you have an allergy to sesame oil or beeswax.
Appearance: The ointment is brownish-yellow. Be careful with white clothing, as it can leave oily stains.
Storage: Store below 25°C. If the ointment becomes too liquid in the summer, put it in the fridge for a few minutes.
Generic International Brands: Burnasores (Local), Melo (Local), Riaheal.
