Skinatra – 15g Enzymatic Debriding Ointment
Available at Pharmaegy Pharmacy. Use as directed by your doctor.
Intro: Skinatra is the high-quality local equivalent to Iruxol, produced by Global Napi Pharmaceuticals. It contains the same active combination of Collagenase (0.6 IU) and Chloramphenicol (10mg). It is designed to clean "dirty" or "stuck" wounds by using enzymes to eat away dead tissue (necrosis) while the antibiotic protects against bacterial growth. It is essential for wounds that refuse to heal because of hard scabs or slough.
Indications:
Wound Cleaning: Specifically for wounds with dead, black, or yellow tissue (necrotic slough).
Diabetic Foot & Bedsores: Ideal for deep ulcers that need "debridement" (cleaning) without surgery.
Severe Burns: Used during the healing phase to remove dead skin and prevent thick scarring.
Slow-Healing Sores: Chronic leg ulcers or post-surgical wounds that have stalled.
How to Use:
Dosage: Apply a layer (2mm) once daily to the wound area.
The "Moisture" Rule: The enzymes in Skinatra need water to work. If the wound is dry, you must moisten it with a sterile saline soak for a few minutes before applying the ointment.
Application: Cover with a sterile dressing. Change the dressing and re-apply once every 24 hours.
Crucial Rules:
Avoid Antiseptics: Do not use Betadine (Iodine), alcohol, or heavy metal soaps on the wound before Skinatra. These chemicals "kill" the enzyme, making the ointment useless. Use only Saline (Sodium Chloride).
Protect Healthy Skin: Try to keep the ointment focused on the wound itself. If it gets on healthy skin, it might cause slight irritation or redness.
Side Effects: A temporary warm or stinging sensation is normal as the enzymes begin to dissolve the dead tissue.
Storage: Keep the tube tightly closed and store in a cool place (below 25°C).
Generic International Brands: Iruxol (Reference Brand), Santyl (USA).
