No-Uric 100mg – 50 Oral Tablets
Available at Pharmaegy Pharmacy. Use as directed by your doctor.
Intro: No-Uric 100mg is a chronic treatment for gout and high uric acid levels, produced by EIPICO. Its active ingredient is Allopurinol. Unlike painkillers that treat the symptoms of gout, No-Uric works at the root cause by blocking the enzyme (xanthine oxidase) responsible for making uric acid. By lowering these levels, it prevents the formation of painful crystals in the joints and kidneys.
Indications:
Gout Prevention: Long-term management to prevent recurrent gout attacks.
Hyperuricemia: High uric acid levels in the blood caused by cancer treatments or enzyme disorders.
Kidney Stones: Prevention of calcium oxalate stones in patients with high uric acid.
Joint Protection: Prevents "tophi" (lumps of crystals) from forming under the skin and damaging joints.
How to Use:
Dosage: Typically starts at 1 tablet (100mg) once daily. Your doctor may increase this weekly until your uric acid levels are below 6 mg/dL.
Timing: Take it immediately after a meal with a full glass of water. This helps prevent stomach upset.
The Water Rule: Drink at least 2 liters of water daily while taking No-Uric to help your kidneys flush out uric acid and prevent stones.
Crucial Rules:
NOT for Acute Attacks: Never start No-Uric during an active, painful gout flare-up. Starting it then can actually make the pain worse. Wait until the attack is completely over.
Initial Flare-ups: When you first start No-Uric, you might experience more gout attacks for the first few weeks as crystals dissolve. Your doctor will often prescribe Colchicine or an NSAID (like Ibuprofen) to take alongside it for the first few months.
Skin Rash Warning: If you develop any skin rash, peeling, or flu-like symptoms, stop the medicine immediately and see a doctor. Allopurinol can rarely cause a very serious skin reaction (Stevens-Johnson Syndrome).
Alcohol: Avoid alcohol (especially beer), as it raises uric acid levels and makes the medicine less effective.
Generic International Brands: Zyloric (Reference Brand), Allopurinol, Purinol.
