Otocort – 10ml Ear Drops

Available at Pharmaegy Pharmacy. Use as directed by your doctor.

Intro: Otocort is a highly effective "dual-action" ear treatment produced by Hi Pharm. Unlike Otal, which is primarily for bacterial infections, Otocort is a powerful combination of a steroid (Flumethasone) and an antimicrobial agent (Clioquinol). This makes it effective against both bacterial and fungal infections, while also calming severe inflammation and itching. Indications: Mixed Infections: Treatment of ear canal infections where both bacteria and fungi are suspected. Otomycosis: Specifically effective against fungal growth in the ear. Infected Eczema: Relief for itchy, inflamed, and infected skin within the ear canal. Otitis Externa: Reducing swelling and pain in the outer ear. How to Use: Dosage: Usually 2 to 3 drops into the affected ear, 2 to 3 times daily. Duration: Typically used for 7 to 10 days. Do not exceed the prescribed duration as long-term steroid use can weaken the ear tissue. Application: Warm the bottle in your hands for a minute (cold drops can cause dizziness), tilt your head, and stay in position for 2–3 minutes after dropping. Crucial Rules: Eardrum Safety: Never use if you have a perforated (burst) eardrum. Staining: Be careful! Clioquinol can stain clothing, hair, or skin a yellowish color. Wash your hands after use. Avoid Eyes: This medication is strictly for the ear. If it gets in your eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water. Thyroid Tests: If you are having a thyroid function test, tell your doctor you are using Otocort, as Clioquinol can interfere with the results. Generic International Brands: Locacorten-Vioform (Original Reference)
