Intro: Remowax is a specialized earwax softener produced by Amoun Pharmaceuticals. Unlike the previous drops (Otal/Otocort), it is not an antibiotic or steroid. Its active ingredient is Carbamide Peroxide (6.5%). It works by releasing oxygen, which creates a "foaming" action to break down, soften, and loosen hardened earwax (cerumen), making it easier to remove naturally or by a doctor. Indications: Impacted Earwax: Softens hardened wax that causes hearing loss or discomfort. Ear Cleaning: Facilitates the removal of wax before an ear syringing (lavage) procedure. Ear Fullness: Relieves the sensation of "plugged" ears caused by wax buildup. How to Use: Dosage: Tilt your head and place 5 to 10 drops into the ear canal. Frequency: Use twice daily for up to 4 days if needed. The "Foam" Sensation: You may hear a bubbling or crackling sound in your ear. This is normal; it means the oxygen is breaking down the wax. Removal: After a few minutes, tilt your head back to let the liquid drain out and gently wipe the outer ear. Crucial Rules: Eardrum Integrity: Do not use if you have a perforated (burst) eardrum or if you have recently had ear surgery. Active Infection: Do not use if you have ear pain, drainage, or a known infection; Remowax is for wax only. No Q-Tips: Never use cotton swabs (Q-tips) to dig out the wax after using the drops.
