Fluca – 5ml Ophthalmic Suspension

Available at Pharmaegy Pharmacy. Use as directed by your doctor.

Intro: Fluca is a specialized "dual-action" allergy and inflammation treatment produced by Jamjoom Pharmaceuticals. It combines a mild corticosteroid (Fluorometholone 0.1%) with a mast cell stabilizer (Sodium Cromoglycate 2%). This unique formula is specifically designed to stop allergic reactions at the source while quickly calming the resulting redness and itching. It is often preferred over stronger steroids because Fluorometholone is less likely to cause a dangerous rise in eye pressure. Indications: Vernel/Seasonal Allergies: Excellent for chronic "Spring Catarrh" or severe seasonal allergies that cause intense itching and ropey discharge. Allergic Conjunctivitis: Relieves eyes that are red, watery, and itchy due to pollen, dust, or pet dander. Non-Infectious Inflammation: Reduces swelling of the conjunctiva or cornea caused by irritation or injury. Maintenance: Often used for patients who need long-term allergy control where other drops have failed. How to Use: Dosage: Usually 1 to 2 drops in the affected eye(s) 2 to 4 times daily. Preparation: Shake the bottle very well before use. Since it is a suspension, the active ingredients settle at the bottom and need to be mixed to work. Application: Pull down your lower lid, drop the medicine in, and close your eye. Press gently on the tear duct (corner of the eye near the nose) for 1 minute to prevent the medicine from entering your bloodstream. Crucial Rules: Avoid Infections: Do not use Fluca if you have an active viral (like Herpes), bacterial, or fungal infection. Steroids can mask the infection and allow it to damage the eye further. Eye Pressure (IOP): While safer than other steroids, long-term use (more than 2 weeks) still requires a doctor to monitor your internal eye pressure to prevent glaucoma. Contact Lenses: Remove lenses before use. The preservative (Benzalkonium Chloride) can be absorbed by soft lenses and discolor them. Wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting. Blurred Vision: You may experience brief blurring immediately after use. Do not drive until your vision is perfectly clear. Generic International Brands: FML-Neo (similar), Cromolyn/Fluorometholone combinations.
