Panadol Cold+Flu Day – 24 Film-Coated Tablets
Available at Pharmaegy Pharmacy. Use as directed by your doctor.
Intro: Panadol Cold+Flu Day is a non-drowsy formula specifically designed by GSK (GlaxoSmithKline) to manage symptoms during active hours. It combines three key ingredients: Paracetamol (500mg) for pain and fever, Phenylephrine Hydrochloride (5mg) to shrink swollen nasal passages, and Caffeine (25mg). The caffeine acts as an "analgesic adjuvant," which means it boosts the pain-relieving power of paracetamol while helping to combat the fatigue often felt during a bout of the flu.
Indications:
Nasal & Sinus Congestion: Clears a blocked or stuffy nose and relieves sinus pressure.
Fever & Body Aches: Reduces high temperature and relieves muscle aches and sore throats.
Headache: Effective for the heavy-headed feeling associated with colds.
Daytime Relief: Provides these benefits without causing the sleepiness typical of "Night" formulas.
How to Use:
Dosage: Adults and children over 12 years should take 1 to 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours.
Daily Limit: Do not exceed 8 tablets in any 24-hour period.
Administration: Swallow with water. It can be taken with or without food, though taking it after a meal may be gentler on the stomach.
Duration: Do not use for more than 7 consecutive days without consulting a doctor.
Crucial Rules:
Non-Drowsy vs. Night: Unlike the "Night" version (which contains an antihistamine like Chlorpheniramine), this "Day" version is designed to keep you alert. However, because it contains caffeine, avoid taking it too close to bedtime if you are sensitive to stimulants.
Paracetamol Warning: Never take this with other products containing paracetamol (like Panadol Advance or some cough syrups) to avoid liver damage.
Blood Pressure: Use with caution if you have hypertension. The decongestant (Phenylephrine) can slightly raise blood pressure.
Medical Conditions: Consult a doctor if you have hyperthyroidism, diabetes, or glaucoma, as the ingredients can interact with these conditions.
Generic International Brands: Sudafed PE Day, DayQuil (similar concept), Adol Cold/Flu Day.
